Kings & Queens, 4×4 Friday

Welcome to my fellow Kings and Queens. Here is my royal 4×4. I could not resistQueens these King and Queen antique playing cards. And the thought of Kings and Queens brought to mind elaborate crowns, so over the antique Kings and Queens I created two crowns using the Layers of Color Fleur heart stamp. Kings

Have a wonderful Friday!

A Fresh Attitude

Hanging Lavender SachetWomen at work is the theme this week for Skinny Saturday. I made a lavender sachet with my skinny. I printing the image of a hard-working wash-woman on linen and embellished it, then displayed it on a miniature wire hanger.

Life has taught me that what matters most is not what job I have, but the attitude with which I do my work. Even in a stinky job, a great disposition can freshen the work environment with a sweet fragrance.

Da Vinci, 4×4 Friday

Welcome, this is a shared mother and daughter blog, todays creation is created by Jessica, daughter of Layers of Color.

Thank you Da Vinci for this beautiful, charming lady. How divine to own an Ermine. I used chalk to shade the edges and used the Layers of Color Fleur Heart to frame the bottom and to added it the heart in the left hand corner.

Have a blessed Friday! Today is when Christ died on the cross for ours sins. But no worries “…in three days He will rise”

Eggcellent Tradition!

“He has risen!” and the receiver responds with “He has risen indeed!”

Egg DisplayEaster is coming and as we know, it’s not all about the bunny and his eggs, but about our Lord and Savior, who rose from His tomb on the third day. A family tradition of ours is have an egg exchange. Together we spend the day sitting around the table and dying and decorating eggs. When we’ve finished, we hand our personalized egg to our secret someone (who’s name we pulled from a hat), we state: “He has risen!”, and the receiver responds with, “He has risen indeed!”

This paper-mache egg was honestly made with myself in mind. It is all my favorite colors and textures, wrapped in copper paint, ribbons, flowers and feathers. I created a leaf nest for the egg to rest and decorated an old candlestick with paint, glitter and ribbons. The end result turned out to be an eggcellent Easter display (LOL – I had to say it!)

Decorated EggThis would be a wonderful project to do with family or friends. If you decorate hard boiled eggs you can use the stands to display them each year, or you can decorate paper-mache eggs and can add to your collection every Easter.

Have a blessed Easter and remember: He has Risen! …. (now it’s your turn.)

Ode to the Military Man! Mixed Media Monday

Welcome to our shared mother & daughter blog. Today’s art is created by Jessica, daughter of Layers of Color.

My husband is a Navy man and I am his Navy wife. Because today’s Mixed Media Monday theme is Men, I thought I would create a little ode to my hubby with an artist square. I used some non-traditional shapes when designing my 4×4 but, it still remains the same dimensions as a traditional artist square. I used a portion of the Layers of Color Fleur Heart stamp to frame the edge of the square and added a few metal embellishments to add more depth.

I would like to thank all the men and women who fight for our country, and all the spouses who support them.

Thank you for taking the time to browse all our blog creations!
