Oriental, 4×4 Friday

I loved this challenge because I have recently had a great fascination with oriental design and colors. They are so beautiful and peaceful. I used mulberry paper to frame the Geisha and the tree.

The Heart Tree stamp is from our new Layers of Color, Flower Child set (coming soon). Even though it is in a baby set it also works well as a blossom tree. Remember to not be afraid to step out of the box. Just because as item has a certain title or is in a certain section of the craft store does not mean it has to be used for that.

Kings & Queens, 4×4 Friday

Welcome to my fellow Kings and Queens. Here is my royal 4×4. I could not resistQueens these King and Queen antique playing cards. Ode to the Military Man! Mixed Media Monday

Welcome to our shared mother & daughter blog. Today’s art is created by Jessica, daughter of Layers of Color.

My husband is a Navy man and I am his Navy wife. Because today’s Mixed Media Monday theme is Men, I thought I would create a little ode to my hubby with an artist square. I used some non-traditional shapes when designing my 4×4 but, it still remains the same dimensions as a traditional artist square. I used a portion of the Layers of Color Fleur Heart stamp to frame the edge of the square and added a few metal embellishments to add more depth.

I would like to thank all the men and women who fight for our country, and all the spouses who support them.

Thank you for taking the time to browse all our blog creations!

Whimsy, 4×4 Friday

Welcome to our mother & daughter shared blog. Today’s art is created by Jessica, daughter of Layers of Color.

Whimsy 4x4 Friday4×4 Friday’s theme of fairies brought the word whimsy to mind, which I think is a magically delightful word. I formed the word whimsy from wire and painted it peach. The picture of the fairies riding on a bubble and being pulled by butterflies was irresistible and made a fabulous combo with my chosen word. I also framed my little 4×4 canvas with part of the Layers of Color Fleur heart stamp. There are lots of sparkles sprinkled on my creation because I feel it went so well with the theme.
