It’s an open theme this week on Skinny Saturday. I chose “Wildly Creative” for my themed Skinny.

I tattooed the girl with the Thistle Border from Layers of Color Garden Border set (available soon). The animals are Dover and the background uses mists, word stamps, orange ink, and brown marker.

In honor of all the wildly creative artists who have influenced my creativity. Thank you for adding so many layers of color to my life!

Women at work is the theme this week for Skinny Saturday. I made a lavender sachet with my skinny. I printing the image of a hard-working wash-woman on linen and embellished it, then displayed it on a miniature wire hanger.

Life has taught me that what matters most is not what job I have, but the attitude with which I do my work. Even in a stinky job, a great disposition can freshen the work environment with a sweet fragrance.

The iridescence of multi-colored silk, and a few great old photographs inspired my Skinny Saturday this week. The theme is, Be Inspired with the additional challenge to incorporate an Artist Trading Card into the creation. I was inspired!

Obvious beauty is inspiring but, so is the ordinary, like colors in shadows. The white Poodle with it’s golden shadows might inspire an artist to…paint a dog!

Silks, decorative papers, Layers of Color Fleur Heart stamp, Staz-on ink, copies of old photographs, butterfly image copied on acetate, metal brads, stitching and rhinestones were used to make this 3×5 skinny.

I applied my skinny to an altered bottle for this week’s challenge on Skinny Saturday.

The theme is based on this old verse:

Monday’s child is fair of face,

Tuesday’s child is full of grace,

Wednesday’s child is full of woe,

Thursday’s child has far to go,

Friday’s child is loving and giving,

Saturday’s child works hard for his living,

And the child that is born on the Sabbath day,

is bonny and blithe and good and gay.

Naturally the first question we all have is:
“What day am I?”

Woe is me… I end up being Wednesday! LOL! But, that gave me an idea. I altered an old bottle, labeled it with my skinny, embellished it, and filled it with strips of black paper on which I wrote my woes in white. My bottle is full of woe, so I don’t have to be!

Some details: It has a broken “seal” made of paper ribbon. The top of the cork is decorated with a replica of a French coin. The bottle neck is embellished with grosgrain ribbon, metal trim and a vintage rose button. I like that the child is emotionally distressed and the image is physically distressed. It’s from an old soap trade card and the frame is from a Dover image book. Fabric trims and glass rocks complete this art piece.

Skinny Sisters

For the “Sisters” theme for Skinny Saturday, I chose siblings clothed with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
