“Boy, where did the time go?” layout by Julie Overby

I love this layout! It’s wonderful how the focus is on the photo, which is surrounded by interesting bits and pieces that catch your attention. The simple background brings the eye back to the intimacy of the of the close-up, the hug, the warmth, and the love.

A clever and creative aspect of this layout is the way Julie chose to journal along the edge of the Brick Wall cling art stamp. She builds her foundation by creating a story of personal details brick by brick. A great masculine touch, too! An excellent layout that captures memorable special feelings in Julie’s life.

This lovely scrapbook page features Joan’s grandaughter, Caitlyn. What a precious beauty she is!

Joan has done a marvelous job expressing the feminine qualities of Caitlyn by using many shades of pink and layers of frills! It’s delightful! The pretty flourish is Natural Flourish art stencil on a paper doily, most likely the same type that Caitlyn adores using when she has a tea party at grandma’s house!

“We Inspire” 12″x12″ layout by Irene Tan

Making your creative world more colorful with Layers of Color,

Splashes of vibrant colors spilling all over the paper…getting inky with sunny orange, joyous pink and calming greens…what fun! This tutorial shows you how to easily make your own Splash Paper, which is perfect for all your colorful creative paper projects.

MATERIALS:

• White card stock 80 – 120lb
• Tsukineko Memento 0.5oz re-inker bottles in your choice of 3 colors (For this tutorial I used ~ Tangelo 200,Rosebud 400 ~ Pear Tart 703 ~ 2 warm colors and 1 cool color)
• Spray mist  bottle filled with water
• Paper towels
• Oven and iron ~ optional

On a protected surface, stack 2 sheets of white card stock on top of each other and lay them down on your surface. You will be creating 2 pieces of Splash Paper at the same time. You add color to the top sheet and the bottom sheet will automatically get created at the same time as it absorbs the ink from the paper above it.

With the Memento re-inker bottle in one hand and the spray mist bottle in the other, squeeze both at the same time (gently on the ink). As the drops of ink land on the paper, spray water on the ink causing the ink to spread out. Repeat this over the entire sheet of paper.

As the paper gets soaked with water, dab with paper towels to absorb the puddles.

Continue inking and spraying over the entire sheet of paper. Dab well with paper towels.

This left side shows the paper that was underneath and the right side shows the paper that was inked. It’s great to get two from one project! I’ve tried three, but it doesn’t absorb enough ink to create an lovely effect like these.

Let dry flat overnight or put on the oven rack for 10minutes at 250 degrees. Once dry they will have curled edges. I iron mine flat with a hot iron on cotton setting.

TIP: You can also dry and use the paper towels as a colorful, affordable and interesting texture to add to your projects.

Door Gems are cut from card stock (3 from 81/2X11), edge punch bottom, circle punch top, decorate and distress with Memento inks and markers. Add sparkle with a spray mist of Tsukineko’s Shimmer Spritz!

Mmm, mmm good, look at all this delicious color, it’s like a creamsicle all wrapped up in a bow! (Hee Hee, my sweet tooth is showing!)  I love this tasty card! Melisa has used Vintage Roses art stamp as the focal point and an additional touch of roses in the circle. I like how she put a splash of orange onto the urn as well. Such a fresh and lovely card!

Ooo, this baptism layout is so beautiful! Melisa has used Gothic Crosses and Royal Birds art stamps to express  the spiritual joy of this very special moment. The soft colors are serene and delicate feminine details add the sweet personal touches.  A beautiful experience shared with love through this lasting keepsake.

6 X 6 Card

The color challenge is to use teal, red, black and white in your artwork. Here’s my card and a tutorial :

The flowers are Layers of Color Polka Dot Love art stamps and the background is stamped with Creative Flourish and  Nature Walk.

Close Up of 3-D Flowers

All the flowers and leaves were stamped on white cardstock with black ink, cut out and applied to the background with glue. Some of them were bent so that they stand out creating the 3-D effect. I love the dimension this creates!

Supplies

The supplies for this card are: white cardstock, black ink, Teal Blue StazOn, Scarlet VersaColor, Clear Embossing Powder, Tsukineko Dabber, and Layers of Color Polka Dot Love , Creative Flourish and Nature Walk art stamps.

First Layer of Background

The background has two simple layers…First, on white cardstock stamp Creative Flourish and Nature Walk flourish repeatedly with red ink. Before it dries, sprinkle with clear embossing powder. Emboss with an embossing heat gun.

Second Layer of Background

For the second layer…Using the dabber and StazOn teal ink, rub over the entire paper leaving some areas heavier, some lighter.

Background Details

Gently wipe some of the teal ink off of the red areas with a baby wipe and, Voila! Imagine all the wonderful various creations you can make with this handmade designer paper!

Groomsmen

My eldest daughter, Jessica created this page of her groom and groomsmen from their wedding in December 2006.

Creative Details

This dynamic design was made with Layers of Color Beaded Frames art stamp set.

Sentimental Keepsake

Attached to the page is the actual boutonniere worn by the groom. I made it with a velvet leaf, ribbon, trim, feathers and faux berries that looked like they are sugar coated. Jessica also adorned this page with Layers of Color Garden Borders, Architectural Blocks art stamp sets and golden netting.

Details

Just above her husband’s name, Jessica added some masculine touches of metal and corrugated cardboard.  The crown and flourish are Layers of Color Regal Wings and Under the Sea art stamp sets.
