Inspire Skinny with ATC
Inspire Skinny with ATC
The iridescence of multi-colored silk, and a few great old photographs inspired my Skinny Saturday this week. The theme is, Be Inspired with the additional challenge to incorporate an Artist Trading Card into the creation. I was inspired!

This is a shared mother and daughter blog, today’s art is created by Laura, the Mama.

Obvious beauty is inspiring but, so is the ordinary, like colors in shadows. The white Poodle with it’s golden shadows might inspire an artist to…paint a dog!

Fleur Butterfly ATCs

ATCs are … another blank canvas to splatter all of my creativity.

Fleur ATC Series
Fleur ATC Series

ATCs are so addictive because they’re so small and can be done so quickly. It’s easy to get carried away with all the possibilities. I know… Two-and-a-half inches by three inches may seem small, but it’s another blank canvas to splatter all of my creativity. Not to mention having my own trading card definitely makes me feel more like a “Pro.” Think about it: big-time baseball and football players have trading cards, so why can’t I have them, too?!

This week, while I was hopped-up on an ATC flurry, I did a 3-piece ATC series on butterflies. I stamped the fleur heart on velum, then cut and organized it into a few fleur butterfly designs. Velum is really a great way to visually “stack” textures and designs on any background. I chose a crackle background which I painted on actual playing cards. Because of the card’s glossy finish they hold the many layers of paint required to get the crackle effect. This week, I hope you catch the ATC bug and craft away on those tiny canvases.
