Why Not!

Why not!
Why not!
It’s early on a sunny summer day. I just got out of the shower, grab a cup of tea, and step out onto the patio. Taking a deep breath of fresh morning  air, I relax in a chair, where I can feel the warmth of the first rays of sun peaking through the trees. The air is crisp, the birds are singing to each other. I glance across the garden, thinking the dew on the leaves will be gone soon in the heat of the day. When suddenly galloping through the field I see our giant prize rooster with our son on it’s back, riding it like a racehorse! I jump to my feet, upsetting my tea and shout, “Russell, don’t ride the rooster!!!” They both stop and look at me as if they do this every morning. And all he can say with total sincerity is, “Why not!”

A Hint of Pink

Dreaming of More Dessert
Dreaming of More Dessert
Arty Girlz challenged us to use a hint of pink in our artwork. I made a 4″ x 6″ card using a copy of a pink pig that I painted on a wooden tray. I used Layers of Color Architectural Blocks art stamp cut into triangles for the corners and stamped on the pastel metal brads with brown Staz-On. Upholstery fabric, fancy stitching and decorative scissors added the pretty details to this card. Indeed, she’s more than a “hint” of pink!

Arty Girlz with Paint

There’s excitement in the air! I’m featured as a Guest Designer on Arty Girlz Challenge Blog! They’ve also chosen to feature Layers of Color Flower Child clear stamp set in their wonderful artwork!

And today, I’m featuring Arty Girlz as my Special Blog Guests. I’ve enjoyed meeting Julie, one of the kind and talented artists and owners of Arty Girlz. Julie and Crissi have been friends for fourteen years, and decided to start the blog in 2007. They are based in England and have a strong following of international participants devoted to entering in their creative online art challenges. Arty Girlz is known for the fabulous themes that encourage artists to express themselves in new ways. And for the community it builds, where like-minded, creative people can meet and inspire one another.

Thank you, Julie and Crissi of Arty Girlz, for supporting me as I reach for my dream of building my family-run art stamp business! My heart swells with gratitude for who you are and what you do. You’ve blessed me by inviting me to be your Guest Designer. I hope today I’ve been able to honor you in return.

Big Hugs, Laura
Flower Child Card
Flower Child Card

Arty Girlz theme this week encourages us to make art with Paint. I had fun making a card using paint and the Flower Child stamp set. I used paint on; the background, edges, dry brushed on the embossed paper, and on the inside of the rough wallpaper mini card. Velvet rickrack adds a baby soft touch.
