Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God,

the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?

there is no searching of his understanding.

Kalyn had fun making this “Happy Bird Day!” card. She made the designer paper by stamping The Love Chapter script on ivory paper and then randomly stamping a flock of lovely birds from the Backyard Birds art stamp set. She stacked it on colorful papers and stamped the elegant greeting with one of the special sentiments from  Happy Wishes art stamp set. Adding the cloth ribbon and cheerful buttons accents it perfectly. A quick and delightful birthday card!

Backyard Birds (bird and egg) and Acanthus Leaves art stamp sets

Heather has used Backyard Birds art stamp on fabric, painted it with color, cut it out and applied it to artwork. Beautiful little fella! That music sheet helps to imagine that any minute he’ll break into song, praising God! Delightful!!

Blessed to be a Blessing

There is so much in the Word of God about being blessed – God outlines how to receive His blessing and what better place to read about it than in Matthew 5 in the ‘Beatitudes’

Blessed are the poor in spirit! For theirs is the kingdom of the Heavens.

Blessed are the ones mourning! For they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek! For they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst after righteousness! For they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful! For they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart! For they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers! For they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are they who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake! For theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.

Blessed are you when they shall reproach you, and persecute you,

and shall say every evil word against you, lying, on account of Me.

Matthew 5: 3-11

It is so easy to assume that to be blessed is to have everything we need and perhaps want, while this may be true for some of us – it is not necessarily the way God works for all of us, in fact I would dare to say for most of us.  While God is well able to provide us all everything we could ever want or could possibly need – He blesses us in way that we don’t always recognize at first, but as we become seasoned in our relationship with Him, we begin to see the hand of God on us in ways that are not so obvious as we read about in the above verses….these blessings have eternal value!

Why does God bless us?  We are BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING!!

What a serene and peaceful card! The cool soft colors and light patterns gives this card a romantic feel. Heather is showcasing Backyard Birds art stamp set as the focal point and Belle Brocade art stencil as a pretty accent at the bottom of this lovely card. I love her unexpected touch of purple on the button, how fresh! A beautiful card, Heather!

I’ve used several layers: burlap, an old book page, green graph paper with Elegant Touch Art Stencil and Tsukineko Walnut Ink, stitched on glass beads, striped paper punched with Martha Stewart’s Fence Edge Punch, and a bird image from an bird book accented with “x” stitches.

All these layers are mounted on thick felt, which will make up another page of my felt Bird Book. To see the other page of this book, visit the blog post Migration Page.

I’ve started making a mixed media Bird Book recently. The plan is to make each page from heavy felt and then stitch them together. I found an old book atlas at a thrift store for the background of this page. I put Elegant Touch art stencil on top of the atlas and sprayed over them with Tsukineko’s colored Walnut Inks. When I removed the art stencil it left the outline. The result reminds me of a decorative compass.

I added a star decorative stitch which is designed to have a row of stars, one after the other. I chose to stitch one star and then move the needle to a different location for the next star, and so on. I like this look as it resembles tracking a trip. I chose to add some sparkle by layering metallic netting under the atlas.

I stamped Touch of Elegance art stamp on the bird and the background. Notice this art stamp set is the same design as Elegant Touch art stencil. Fleur Heart art stamp is also stamped off the page. Again I stitched along the right side, this time with another decorative stitch. The bird is cut out of a thrift store bird book. All the pages of my book will have birds from this found treasure.

To make the flower I stacked two Spellbinder’s Scalloped Circles made from the atlas pages and snipped them towards the center to create petals. The coin replica came from a thrift store belt. Then I stitched the flower over a remnant of metallic trim. The crown stamp is from the Regal Wings art stamp set.

I’ve enjoyed the process of creating the first page of my felt Bird Book. I love combining several passions and favorites in one piece. The next page is already complete! I’ll share that with you in the near future. Until then…
