Sweet Valentine


It’s a tradition to give a confectionery gift on Valentine’s Day. So here’s a sweet candy holder to add a creative flair to your delightful offering.

This joyful design showcases a heart stamp from Layers of Color Renaissance Hearts clear art stamp set. The set has five creative hearts and the word, “Heart”, which will make your heart skip a beat with all the options it presents!

Materials:

  • Cardboard tube 2″ X 2″ (wrapping paper or fabric tube)
  •  Layers of Color Renaissance Hearts art stamp set
  • Black ink pad
  • Red crepe paper party streamer
  • 10″ of red, black and silver pipe cleaner
  • Black & white ribbon, approx. 1/2″ wide
  • Cardboard circle to fit on bottom
  • White and red acrylic paint
  • Paper and hot glue
  • Red marker

Instructions:
Glue cardboard circle on bottom of tube. Paint interior and bottom.Glue ribbon to base. Stamp heart in a row with ink, color in with marker, cut out flat on bottom edge and around hearts on top edge. Make ruffle by pleating crepe paper party streamer and sewing over pleats with sewing machine. Glue ruffle to tube with 1/2″ over top of tube. Glue heart strip along top of ribbon, hiding ruffle stitching. Braid the pipe cleaners then hot glue to the interior.

Creative options:

Fill with… candies or nuts, basket straw and a special gift, gift card, dried flowers, battery operated votive candle (not flame safe), tiny toys, or a diamond ring! Great as party favors, table place card holders (hang name tag from handle and fill with goodies), or make them in your wedding colors and give as wedding favors! Make the handle longer and hang on your neighbor’s door! Have fun, and remember to treat yourself by making an extra one!
