For Layers of Color Challenge this week I added a balloon to my artwork. This balloon is made out of metal that I embossed and molded over layers of foam tape. It floats over color-misted, stamped and stitched watercolor paper. Stamps are Layers of Color Fleur Heart, music note by Art Impressions and hand carved foam stamps. The fabric is embroidered dyed linen and the image is a colored pencil tinted peasant painted by Adolphe-William Bouguereau (1825-1905).
There’s a wonderful, new handbag that’s not only fun to alter, it’s the perfect way to display your art in public! Imagine being able to share your art, and carry inspiration everywhere you go! Daily Window creates high quality handbags with clear pockets to show off your artwork, share friend’s creations, market your art business, and can even coordinate with your outfit!
I chose to alter their handbag called, “Eight Days a Week”. I used micro-mini beads, glitter, glue, teal metal studs and colored the metal with alcohol inks. Then I made three cards to rotate for the clear pocket. Art stamps used were Layers of Color Signature Art Stamps: Architectural Blocks, Beaded Frames, Fleur Heart, Garden Borders, and Gothic Crosses.
Daily Window is owned by an wonderful Christian gal, Paula, who is enthusiastic about the great creative possibilities of these handbags as a showcase for artist’s artwork. She’s kindly posted my altered bag and cards on her site. Go see her blog and “Designer Gallery of Inspiration ” (remember to mention I sent you)!
Daily Window is a handbag company that offers purses with clear pockets to showcase cards and artwork! Artist, Laura Kirste Campbell embellished the outside of this tote and made 3 mixed-media cards for the window using Layers of Color art stamps. It is published in Stampington's Winter 2008 "Altered Couture" magazine on pages 117-120!
I love silliness, and so I just had to participate in Gothic Arches challenge to add clowns to our artwork! I used Duponi Silks and Layers of Color Fleur Heart stamp.
Wow! Something new and exciting to announce!…There’s a new stamping challenge blog that’s bursting with artful cards called, Stamp Something! They’ve invited me to be their Guest Designer, and the hostesses are featuring Layers of Color Under the Sea clear stamp set in their delightful and creative projects this week! I’d like to honor them in return by making them my Special Blog Guests today!
Denise and Erin are the sweet, generous, and talented hostesses of the wildly popular challenge blog, Stamp Something!. They’ve created an exciting online community where creative people inspire and encourage one another. Participants find that friendships are made, ideas and techniques are shared, and artful self-expression grows. It’s a colorful place to visit and a rewarding challenge to participate in.
Denise and Erin, please tell us about yourselves and how Stamp Something was started:
We are the co-creators of STAMP SOMETHING, a weekly challenge blog. We are based in New Hampshire, but our design team members are all over the United States and England.
Erin and I started STAMP SOMETHING because of our love for stamping and paper crafting. We are both independent demonstrators with Stampin’ Up! and love having the opportunity to share ideas and learn new things.
Our hope is that our challenges are inspiring and motivating for others. We love to see all the fabulous creations each week and feel blessed that people take the time to share with us.
These challenges have also helped us break out of our own comfort zones and try new techniques, styles, and ideas. We love working with our design team and guest designers to create fun and different challenges each week.
And as an added bonus, we’ve met really wonderful people through blogging that we otherwise would have never known. People from all over the globe. There are so many talented crafters out there, it’s awesome to stumble across a new blog and find beautiful creations.
Thank you, Denise and Erin for supporting our family-run online art stamp business, and for giving me the opportunity to meet so many of your talented peers! I wish you continued success in making the world a more joyful place as you Stamp Something!
Big Hugs, Laura
| The theme this week on Stamp Something! is “In the Wild”. I’ve had so much fun playing with Layers of Color Under the Sea clear stamp set that I made several cards for this challenge. The only other stamps used are Layers of Color Beaded Frames stamp set. Enjoy this colorful collection! |
