Weekend Retreat

We’ve been working so hard getting our new online boutique opened and running the business. It’s a blessing, but we’re overdue for a break. So the children are staying with Grandparents and my husband and I are getting away to the coast for the weekend! I’m looking forward to relaxing, deep breaths of sea air, leisurely strolls, candlelight dinner, watching the sunset, and peace and quiet. Ah, tranquility!

With this in mind, I created my artwork for Layers of Color Challenge theme, Summer Respite. I used floral paper, Layers of Color Garden Borders, Fleur Heart and Beaded Frames art stamps. I love my new paper flowers introduced to me by my friend, Heather (Prima Floral Embellishments).

I hope you too, enjoy your summer weekend!

Religious Card

Stamp Something has a challenge to make a card using a specific layout or “sketch”. I’ve made a card using Layers of Color Gothic Crosses art stamp set. I needed to make an invitation for a card magazine, and so this card is perfect for a special religious event, like a Baptism, a baby Christianing or Dedication.

A Hint of Pink

Arty Girlz challenged us to use a hint of pink in our artwork. I made a 4″ x 6″ card using a copy of a pink pig that I painted on a wooden tray. I used Layers of Color Architectural Blocks art stamp cut into triangles for the corners and stamped on the pastel metal brads with brown Staz-On. Upholstery fabric, fancy stitching and decorative scissors added the pretty details to this card. Indeed, she’s more than a “hint” of pink!

A Treasure to Share

I just had to share a treasured work of art I unexpectedly received in the mail from my friend, Viola of Germany. This stunning piece was wrapped in textural and inspirational treats like, handmade lace, embroidered ribbons, antique Tango music sheets and German book pages! It’s created on a hard book cover and is an experience to touch. The laces and trims are colored with paint, there are layers of words, labels, stamps and metal embellishments, and it’s all creatively layered with fragrant beeswax.  An mixed-media artist’s yummy delight to feel and gaze upon. I’m honored to be given this exquisite present.

Twinchies

Twinchies (2″ x 2″) are the theme over at Wednesday Stamper. I chose to keep with the twosie idea and create two Twinchies with twins…

Her Balloon

For Layers of Color Challenge this week I added a balloon to my artwork. This balloon is made out of metal that I embossed and molded over layers of foam tape. It floats over color-misted, stamped and stitched watercolor paper. Stamps are Layers of Color Fleur Heart, music note by Art Impressions and hand carved foam stamps. The fabric is embroidered dyed linen and the image is a colored pencil tinted peasant painted
