I studied art song and opera for years, and I hold a Bachelor of Vocal Performance. I still think of myself as a singer, although singing has taken a back seat to visual arts now. I believe that music and song often play important roles in my art, since I frequently use lyrics and musical terms within my art or to name my art. I believe that all the arts are our way of giving back to God in an attempt to repay the beauty he has given us in this world and in our lives.
I am married to a wonderful man. I lovingly call him my enabler since he allows me to wallow in my addiction to mixed-media art! We have 4 grown children, 2 daughters and 2 sons. Technically, the daughters and one of the sons are his, but I love them as if they were my own. Our family is growing! We have a nine-year-old step-grandson, and two brand new grandsons.
In my art, I frequently dabble in different mediums. I quilt, make jewelry, play with polymer clay, but most days you will find me with papers, old photos, bits and pieces of ephemera, vintage photos, a jar of gel medium and assorted acrylic paints, rubber stamps and inks. Mixed-media collage is definitely my thing!
When Laura invited me to be a member of the design team, I was delighted. It’s a joy to join this talented group of women in this brand new venture.
