Janice Whiting, Layers of Color Designer

Hi, there! My name is Janice Whiting. My husband, two wonderful little boys and I are from Waco, Texas. Prior to “mommyhood,” I happily taught third grade for about five years. Currently, I have the best job in the world – raising my sweet little sons, Elijah and Judah.

I’ve been into crafting all my life! I don’t think I could have escaped it – my mom was a seamstress and my dad was into carpentry, framing and pretty much anything hands-on. I grew up always “creating” something and one of the things I wanted to be when I grew up was an artist! I made my first official scrapbook in college, cataloging my wonderful time at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and continue to scrapbook today. I was introduced to stamping and card making not too long ago and have never looked back! I love creating beautiful cards and projects, and gifting them to special friends and family. My hope is that they feel encouraged, loved and appreciated when they receive one of them. Some of my other crafting hobbies include cake decorating, sewing, jewelry making, and crocheting.

One of the best parts of being a designer for Layers of Color is that it is a Christ-based company that strives to honor God in everything they do. I gave my life to Jesus when I was 17 years old and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I love the peace and deep joy I have by knowing him and being loved by him. He has been so faithful to me – I am grateful! One of my favorite verses of the Bible is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make your paths straight.” And a verse that I’ve clung to lately is Matthew 19:26, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Isn’t it encouraging that we serve an all powerful God?!

I am blessed to join the amazingly talented group of LOC designers, and I look forward to creating and inspiring alongside them!
